Amy Johnson

Head Coach

 

Amy Johnson played Division 1 Volleyball at Eastern Illinois University. After graduating from Eastern she received her Masters Degree at the University of Arizona. Her first coaching job was in Aurora, Illinois at Waubonsie Valley High School. After three years at Waubonsie, she returned to Tucson and coached Girls and Boys Volleyball at Salpointe Catholic High School. During her 13 years at Salpointe, she won several region tournament titles and  region championships. She also earned 26 state tournament berths and collected 3 state runner up titles. Coach Johnson is very excited to bring her energy and love for the game of volleyball to the athletes at Sabino High School! 

 

Sara Douglas

JVA Coach

 

Sara Douglas graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in 2006, where she played as a middle blocker for four years. During the off seasons she played club volleyball at Zona as well as Cactus. Sara then went on to play on the University of Arizona Club team where her team took second place in the NCVF National Championship. While attending the U of A, she coached volleyball at Salpointe as the girls’ freshman coach and also assisted for the varsity team.

Angelika Hernandez

JVB Coach

Born and raised in Tucson, Angelika attended Salpointe Catholic High School and played volleyball for four years as a setter and graduated in 2015. She also played for Zona Volleyball Club for five years. Angelika attended Arizona State University and worked for Banner Health, the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and Canyon Ranch in the PR/Communications departments, and regularly volunteered at the Foundation for Blind Children, Guide Dogs of the Desert, and Elmcroft of Tempe. She graduated from ASU in 2018, moved back to Tucson in early 2019 and is now pursuing a MA in communication.
